Services
Municipal street light conversions are not rocket science. But they do involve significant coordination to ensure that the details are right – from the initial planning to the final close-out phases of a project. Since most cities have never undertaken a comprehensive replacement of their entire street light infrastructure, it’s important that they select a partner who is knowledgeable about the conversion process. Partnering with experts is the most assured way that a city can guarantee that a project is designed to sufficiently actualize savings.
Tanko Lighting knows street lighting. It’s our passion. It’s all we do. As such, we care that street light projects are done well. Thus, we provide customers with turn-key services that seamlessly guide them through the process of transitioning to energy efficient street lighting.
We make turn-key street lighting easy. Here’s how:

We assist municipalities looking to acquire the street lights located in their city boundaries from their local utility. We provide baseline auditing, valuation modeling, negotiation support, and final acquisition coordination to ensure an equitable purchase of the system.

Our Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Audit provides comprehensive data of the existing street light inventory. This serves as a baseline from which the design and materials procurement can be based. We reconcile this data with customer and/or utility data sets.

Utilizing audit, installation and field inspection data, we identify any missing installations, and coordinate the final completion of any outstanding installations.

We layer the audit data with other crucial information (including crime data, traffic flows, speed limits, etc.) and provide customers with neighborhood-level maps with recommended designs of replacement fixtures. We also provide customers with engineering support and technical assistance for custom design needs.

Whether via public or private sources, we help coordinate cost-effective project financing that enables a customer to utilize the project savings to repay the financing, resulting in zero out-of-pocket costs for the customer.

We selectively source qualified, local contractors to install the equipment. We manage installation schedules, obtain crucial installation data from field crews, provide weekly progress reporting, and develop and coordinate the completion of final project need punch lists. Utilizing local installation contractors leverages local knowledge and allows customers to invest in the local economy.

We are brand agnostic, but we know what a good product is. Thus, we work with customers during the design phase to ensure that the products selected for the project meet the customer’s requirements. We then create an ordering schedule to ensure that material is available for the installation phase. We also coordinate shipping, staging, and other logistics.

We identify any available rebates, ensure that the design includes qualifying products, and manage the application process so that the customer receives the rebates for which they are eligible. We also work with customers’ local utilities to process any tariff changes as a result of the project.

We provide ongoing progress tracking through weekly reports, as well as interactive mapping (that provides real-time reporting). We also compile final rebate/rate change documentation, electronic GIS files, and any other required materials and provide for final project close-out.

We develop messaging, press materials, Frequently Asked Questions, and website content to enable customers to proactively communicate about a conversion project to their constituents. We also help manage the message and remedy in the event of any complaints from the public about the project.

We develop curriculum and provide training to relevant municipal management and field staff to familiarize them with the installed fixtures and guide them through operations, maintenance and warranty procedures.
